(RANDALLSTOWN – February 12, 2026) – It is with deep regret and profound sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved mother, Mrs. Margaret L. Jones, at the age of 90.With great sorrow but also deep gratitude to God for a life truly well lived, we share that our matriarch was called home into the loving arms of Jesus Christ on Friday, February 6.Mrs. Jones was born and raised in East Baltimore’s Oliver community, a place she loved dearly and where she spent countless hours serving her neighbors and working to improve her community. She later made her home in Randallstown.A proud Baltimore City Public School educator for 36 years, my mother dedicated her life to teaching, service, and uplifting others. She exemplified faith, strength, compassion, and the true meaning of public service, leaving an enduring legacy through the lives she touched.Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later time.Thank you for your prayers, love, and support during this difficult time.[Baltimore County Councilman] Julian Jones

)BALTIMORE – February 23, 2025) – The Mayor of Baltimore City and the Governor of Maryland, both Democrats, face criticism for potentially jeopardizing billions in federal aid due to their stance against Trump and ICE on immigration and deportation policies. This open letter is directed at Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott, Black elected officials (BEOs), and African American Democrats. A Word of Caution Mayor Scott, I stand with you, young brother, as always. But I urge caution. We often extend our hands in solidarity, assuming others will do the same for us as African people. (BALTIMORE – February 23, 2025)—Black History is every day. For me, it’s about my ancestors and all of the brilliance that has come from our collective. At this stage in my career, I think about my own legacy. I have always wanted it to be about helping and supporting Black people. So, I will begin sharing lessons intended for Black nonprofit leaders. What I share may not be relevant to some, and that’s okay. I can’t begin to share any of the lessons until I share the most painful one of my career. It was an effort that I thought related…

Dear Black Community, Many of us are deeply troubled by the actions of the current U.S. president. Likewise, we cannot ignore the egregious decisions of his counterpart from South Africa, Elon Musk. Like you, I am frustrated by the direction in which this country is headed. Just days ago, General Charles O. Brown, the Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair, was dismissed. Chief of Naval Operations Lisa Franchetti was also fired. In light of Donald Trump’s actions, I pose a critical question: Are we practicing diversity, equity, and inclusion within our community? We criticize Trump, but do we not sometimes treat…
