Baltimore, there are moments when history doesn’t just happen — it’s made. And right now, one of our own is making it. Sabrina Tapp-Harper is running for Sheriff of Baltimore City. If elected, she would become the first woman to ever hold the office. Let that sit for a moment. This is not an outsider. This is not a newcomer. This is a Baltimore native — Dunbar High School, Coppin State University, Johns Hopkins University. This is a woman with over 34 years in law enforcement who retired from the Baltimore City Police Department as a Major, became the first Black commander of the Northern District, and then went on to become the highest-ranking woman in the history of the Baltimore City Sheriff’s Office as Assistant Sheriff. She has led the Domestic Violence Unit. She has been published in Police Chief magazine. She has served as a fellow with the International Association of Chiefs of Police. She has taught at Baltimore City Community College. She has done the work — not for the cameras, but for the community. Now she’s asking Baltimore to stand with her. And BMORENews.com is asking you to answer that call. Support Sabrina Tapp-Harper’s campaign for Baltimore City Sheriff. Donate what you can. Share this post. Tell somebody. This is how we change the landscape — one bold, qualified, faithful Black woman at a time. DONATE HERE Let’s make history. Together. #SabrinaTappHarper #BaltimoreCity #Sheriff #FirstWoman #BMORENews #BlackWomenLead #Baltimore #SupportHer

(WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 18, 2024) – In today’s disinformation landscape, Black women aren’t just caught in the crossfire — we’re the bullseye. As a Black woman immersed in politics, I’ve seen the onslaught of lies, doctored images, and malicious rumors aimed at dismantling our leadership and eroding our voting power. But here’s the truth: we aren’t mere victims. We’re the frontline defense in this battle against digital deception. Take, for instance, the recent disinformation surrounding Vice President Kamala Harris. A crudely altered false photo of her with Sean “Diddy” Combs made its rounds online. Even after swift debunking, it continued to spread,…

(PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD – October 16, 2024) – Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks and former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan will face off in November in a race that could decide control of the U.S. Senate. After last week’s debate between candidates, Prince George’s County residents were left wondering, “What will Angela do?” For county voters, the upcoming decision on who to vote for is significant. Should they back Hogan, a county native whose father served as the last Republican County Executive? Or should they support Alsobrooks, who is now serving her second term as County Executive after previously…

(BALTIMORE – October 15, 2024) – With decades of total sobriety under his belt, Vennieth McCormick is helping others on their recovery journey. All too familiar with the perils of the streets of Baltimore, McCormick has made it his mission to provide treatment on demand for those willing to make that pivotal change to a new way of living. The truth is, he knows that recovery from drugs and alcohol is a full-time job, and so, too, is overcoming gambling. And he knows that access to treatment for these ills is not always a given. And that’s why he has…
