Former Baltimore City Council President Nick Mosby Among Honored Guests

(BALTIMORE – February 14, 2026) — There is a corner of Downtown Baltimore where fabric meets faith, where craftsmanship meets conviction, and where a quarter-century of entrepreneurial brilliance has quietly redefined what Black business excellence looks like in this city. That corner belongs to Kevin Scott and his beloved Benedetto Haberdashery.

On Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m., BMORENews.com will host a very special edition of its signature event, Black Wall Street, honoring the 25th anniversary of Benedetto Haberdashery at its stunning new location: 119 W. Mulberry Street in the heart of Downtown Baltimore. Among those being recognized at the celebration is Nicholas J. Mosby, former President of the Baltimore City Council, who continues to make an indelible impact on business and public life in Maryland. RSVP to blackwallstreetbenedetto.eventbrite.com.

The Artisan of Mulberry Street

Twenty-five years of building a business. Twenty-five years of building a brand. And he did it right here — in Downtown Baltimore.

Meticulously coordinated by a most gifted melanated man of a million colors, Benedetto Haberdashery proudly presents men in the region with a dazzling array of menswear. Those seeking a step above go to 119 W. Mulberry Street. The reputation precedes it.

You like skins? He’s got skins. You like furs? He’s got them, too. And belts, hats, handkerchiefs, scarves, slacks, blazers, overcoats, and a dazzling display of various in-season suits to fit a customer’s demand.

Make no mistake: Kevin Scott is an artist. Yes, he is a seasoned entrepreneur who regularly checks his statements, contracts, billings, receivables, and marketing. He is even an emerging developer — investing in and building out his new location just around the corner from his previous spot at 324 Park Avenue. That kind of move, from tenant to developer, speaks volumes about the man’s vision.

But, by nature, this journalist sees an artisan, a craftsman, a person who has attentively studied his craft and mastered its mechanics with precision. He has put in the long hours, the overnights, and the back-and-forth travel between Milan and New York. He has worked while others slept. He reinvested when others splurged. He drove a hooptie while others flossed luxury vehicles. Why? Because cars mean nothing to Scott. The craft means everything.

I’ve known him most of my life. He encapsulates what it means to be successful in business — not because he has the biggest store in the world, but because he truly understands that his whole universe is ordered by our heavenly Father.

After that, nothing is impossible.

Twenty-five years deserve more than applause. It deserves a gathering.

Honoring Nicholas J. Mosby: From City Hall to the Boardroom

Among the evening’s distinguished honorees is Nicholas J. Mosby, a public-sector executive and business leader with more than 17 years of experience operating at the intersection of government, regulated industries, and private enterprise.

Mosby currently serves as President and Founder of Allegiance Intel Group (AI Group), a Baltimore-based government relations and business development firm, and as Vice President of Operations for GLOM Global, a behavioral and mental health services company. In 2025, he was appointed by Governor Wes Moore as a Commissioner for the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Agency.

Most recently, Mosby served as the 23rd President of the Baltimore City Council and President of the Board of Estimates, where he exercised expanded authority over Baltimore’s $4 billion municipal budget — the first Council President in city history to do so. In that role, he oversaw fiscal governance, major capital investments, and procurement policy during a period marked by record declines in violent crime and significant expansion of school and recreation center construction. He was widely recognized for strengthening minority and women-owned business participation in public contracting and advancing equitable economic development initiatives.

Previously, Mosby represented Maryland’s 40th Legislative District in the House of Delegates, serving on the Ways and Means Committee and as Vice Chair of the Election Law Subcommittee. His legislative leadership included advancing minority participation in sports betting licensure, securing increased funding for Historically Black Colleges and Universities, protecting the Preakness Stakes in Park Heights, and expanding scholarship access to GED recipients statewide.

Before entering public office, Mosby built a career in engineering and infrastructure development, serving as a Senior Principal Engineer at Verizon Communications, where he worked in network engineering, project management, and cloud data center design and construction. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Tuskegee University.

A Gathering Worth Having

This is what Black Wall Street is all about. It’s about recognizing the men and women who put in the work when nobody was watching. It’s about celebrating the kind of entrepreneurship that transforms communities from the inside out. And it’s about gathering together to say, in one resounding voice: we see you, we honor you, and we thank God for you.

Kevin Scott and Benedetto Haberdashery represent the very best of what Baltimore has to offer. Nick Mosby’s journey from engineer to elected official to entrepreneur is a testament to the breadth of Black excellence in this region. Together, they remind us that when we invest in ourselves and in each other, there is no ceiling.

Join us on February 26th. This one is special.
