(BALTIMORE – November 19, 2024)—Be sure to RSVP for BMORENews.com’s Black Wall Street SOIREE, our annual fundraiser to support our Joe Manns Black Wall Street initiative, on Thursday, December 5, 2024 (6 to 9 pm) at the Downtown Cultural Arts Center at 401 N. Howard Street.

RSVP to https://blackwallstreetsoiree.eventbrite.com/.

As always, the event will feature the Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards, where we celebrate Black entrepreneurs and professionals as well as the people who support them regardless of race.

Honorees will include Naomi Shay.

Who is Naomi?

Naomi Shay is the Lead Compliance Officer for the Mayor’s Office of Small and Minority Business Advocacy and Development (SMBA&D). With over five years of experience in compliance, she supervises a team that consults with her on all matters related to the program. Naomi played a key role in developing the compliance standard operating procedures and spearheaded the development of training documents for the team, prime contractors, and subcontractors to help them navigate the new Baltimore City Diversity Compliance Management System.

Previously, Naomi was the Baltimore SourceLink Partner Development Manager for the Mayor’s Office of Small, Minority and Women’s Business. During her tenure, Naomi was able to add over 50 business resources to the platform. She created a business-of-the-month interview series that featured local business owners and agency partners. These video interviews were posted on Baltimore SourceLink, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram, garring viral attention that drove thousands of existing entrepreneurs and potential business owners to engage with our platform.

Before she transitioned to public service, Naomi was a former minority business owner. Her experience as an owner ignited a passion for advocating and cultivating an environment where other small and minority businesses can grow, thrive, and succeed.

Naomi received a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Science from Coppin State University. However, her most prized accomplishment is being a single mother of three daughters and grandmother to twins.
