JOE MANNS BLACK WALL STREET AWARDS | WOODLAWN | 15TH ANNIVERSARY

(WOODLAWN – May 28, 2026) – Some people talk about hustle. Jason McAlpin lives it.

Born in Brooklyn to hardworking Trinidadian immigrants who came to this country with nothing but determination and a work ethic that wouldn’t quit, Jason learned early what it means to show up — fully, consistently, and with excellence. That foundation has carried him through more than 20 years behind the bar, from neighborhood pubs to upscale fine dining rooms to high-end catering experiences that demand nothing less than perfection.

On Thursday, June 4, 2026, BMORENews.com and the Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards — WOODLAWN are proud to honor Jason McAlpin for a life and career that embody exactly what these awards celebrate — resilience, culture, entrepreneurial spirit, and community.

Jason doesn’t just serve drinks. He creates moments.

Known for his charisma, precision, and an approach to hospitality that makes every guest feel like the most important person in the room, he has built a reputation that speaks for itself across every venue he has touched. In an industry that chews people up and spits them out, Jason McAlpin has not only survived — he has mastered his craft.

But here is what truly sets him apart.

Off the clock, his greatest title is Dad.

As a single father, Jason is deeply involved in his son’s daily life and decision-making in ways that most fathers — single or otherwise — never manage. And he doesn’t just pour love into his son. He pours knowledge. He is already teaching financial literacy at an early age — building toward generational wealth through a 401(k), Roth IRA, and family trust planning. That is not just good parenting. That is Black Wall Street thinking in real time.

Jason is also fluent in Spanish — reading, writing, and speaking — with working knowledge of Arabic, Romanian, and Haitian Creole. In a city as beautifully diverse as Baltimore, that kind of cultural fluency is a superpower. It means Jason McAlpin can walk into virtually any room, connect with virtually any person, and make them feel at home. That is a rare gift.

His story is proof that resilience, culture, fatherhood, and passion can all pour into one extraordinary life.

When we talk about Black Wall Street and the importance of supporting Black entrepreneurs and Black excellence, Jason McAlpin is exactly who we are talking about. A man who took the values his immigrant parents instilled in him, built something real with his own two hands, and is now passing those values — and then some — to the next generation.

That is legacy. That is what these awards are all about.

The Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards — WOODLAWN will take place Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Shura, 6665 Security Boulevard, Woodlawn.
