Honoring Banking Pioneer Maggie Lena Walker; Mob The Block to Present; One Vendor Opportunity Remains
(BALTIMORE – December 27, 2025) – The Black Wall Street NEW YEAR Summit honoring Maggie Lena Walker has drawn over 100 registered attendees from across the DMV and beyond, with participants confirmed from Baltimore, Pikesville, Silver Spring, Rosedale, Bowie, Washington D.C., Arlington, VA, and Nashville, TN.
The free summit takes place January 3rd, 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Downtown Cultural Arts Center.
The event honors Maggie Lena Walker, the first African American woman to charter a bank in the United States. In 1903, Walker founded the St. Luke Penny Savings Bank in Richmond, Virginia, demonstrating that economic independence flows through collective action and community ownership – principles that remain central to Black Wall Street’s mission today.
Special guest Mob The Block will present strategies for economic empowerment as the community enters 2026. Also featured is a keynote by Robyn Murphy of Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts and a “home assignment” from Constellation Energy’s Towanda Livingston. As always, the event will feature the Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards and our second annual Black Wall Street YOUTH AWARDS. We are still taking nominations for entrepreneurs 17 & under for the YOUTH AWARDS.
