(BROOKLYN, NY – April 1, 2026) – Nathaniel B. Evans is a Brooklyn native who has lived the criminal justice story from every angle — on the streets, behind the walls, and within the halls of government. With over 15 years of experience navigating and challenging a system that too often fails the communities it claims to serve, Nathaniel brings an unmatched depth of perspective to his work.

As a Community Organizer for Justice & Safety for the NYC Public Advocate, Nathaniel has transformed personal experience into powerful public advocacy — bridging the gap between those who have been impacted by the criminal justice system and the policymakers with the power to change it. He understands not just the theory of reform, but the lived reality of what justice — and injustice — actually looks like in New York City’s neighborhoods.

Nathaniel B. Evans exemplifies the spirit of Black Wall Street: turning adversity into agency, community into currency, and survival into service. On April 14th, we honor his commitment to justice, his voice for the voiceless, and his unwavering belief that the system can — and must — do better.
