The Vintage Black Expo embraces global sustainable fashion history and style

(BALTIMORE – March 20, 2024) – The Vintage Black Expo, an annual celebration of African-American art, culture, and history, is set to captivate Baltimore on Sat., April 13, 2024, now held at The Assembly Room in Downtown Baltimore. The Vintage Black Expo is a platform dedicated to preserving, celebrating and canonizing Black vintage through fashion, music, and art. With a commitment to sustainability, this year’s theme, “Global Sustainable History and Fashion,” will transport attendees around the world and across time through the journey of our garments.

What you can expect at the Vintage Black Expo

Sustainable Exhibitors: The perfect place to find one-of-a-kind vintage and handmade items. Shop for original and vintage fashion, jewelry, art, photography, decor, books and memorabilia from over 30 Black owned businesses. Familiar brands such as: Style Redefined, Fashion Psychology 101, Baltimore Mercantile, and Treasures Within return with vintage gems. We are excited to welcome brands to Baltimore like Distinctly Darling by PJ with upcycled vintage from New York, and Vtg Not Retro with records and tees from New Jersey.

Fashion Shows: Experience a mesmerizing display of vintage fashion from different eras, curated to showcase glamorous gowns to everyday attire, each piece tells a unique story that transcends time. Enjoy two signature sustainable fashion shows–the first at 1:00PM and the next at 4:00PM featuring talented curators and designers showcasing streetwear, ethnic and eveningwear that will have you cheering “YESSSS!”

Engaging Discussions: Take part in insightful discussions with industry experts, fashion designers, and sustainability advocates. Explore the intersection of history and eco-conscious fashion, discovering how we can honor the past while building a sustainable future,

“The Vintage Black Expo is more than just a shopping event. It’s a celebration of Black identity, culture, and history through the lens of fashion.”

Violesia Tull returns to host an intergenerational panel to allow attendees to sit with experts and historians as they share their rich perspectives on Black vintage history and culture. DJ BOTG of ELYTE Professionals, will be turning out the best throwback and contemporary jams while our chefs provide delicious nostalgic foods. We added interactive games, activities, and live style sessions to have some fun, both in-person and virtually. So bring your friends, wear your favorite retro and vintage outfits to win prizes, and be named “Best Dressed”. Take photos at our Samsung selfie station and connect with fellow vintage lovers.
