The Glover Report: I disagree with Judge Bredar, Consent Decree breeds police contempt

(BALTIMORE – August 22, 2022) – The Baltimore Banner recently reported on a recent Consent Decree update meeting which included U.S. District Judge James K. Bredar. Bredar encouraged law enforcement to stay the course, and that this is no quick fix. He said that it will take years before we see the results.

Eh, em! I do not agree that the long-term benefits of the federal Consent Decree are worth the wait. People are being killed every day in Baltimore. The level of disrespect is unprecedented with people now sniffing dope on subway trains in front of everybody.

I’m sorry, Judge, but at the current rate, there won’t be anyone left.

Now, the article did report that Bredar said the police should still be doing their job, as long as it is in sync with the US Constitution.

I’m not sure if you’ve come through the community lately, but things have changed tremendously since the Consent Decree came online in April 2017. Lawlessness rules and chaos is king. Police are just there to call the ambulance after the shots have been fired.

And, once again, while the rest of the world is talking about Squeegee Kids in Baltimore (This amazes me; never mind the robbers, killers, and rapists; get the Squeegee Kids! They are the spawns of Satan, the dent of iniquity, and the reason Baltimore is so screwed up. Right?) … they are not talking about Squeegee Kids in Sandtown.

No, in Sandtown, they are talking about this army of addicts who do not match the majority demographics of this community. These addicts trek through the streets all hours of the day and night. They even walk through our alleys at night, but the fake news will never talk about this.

The rest of the world does not see it, just like the rest of the world doesn’t see these same addicts panhandling on the same corners with the Squeegee Kids.

This is the inherent institutional racism that breeds in Baltimore on a daily basis. It’s a bunch of finger-pointing and deflecting while monies that could help rebuild these war-torn communities somehow get diverted to non-Black communities who need it the least.

And don’t get me started on the ocean of nonprofits who say they serve the downtrodden here in Baltimore. Let me tell you, we have seen every dog and pony show known to man here in beautiful Sandtown. At the end of the day, the community is left high and dry while some sellout heads out to their home in Columbia with a 6-digit salary. The community is left bereft of their dreams with multiple promises unfulfilled.

We’ve seen this movie before, you know?

It’s shameful! We all see the issue. We all know the problem. We all know that this bastion of segregation has never truly paid reparations to Black families in Baltimore. When one considers the obstacles and hurdles placed on the Black community in this city, every Black family should get a check.

Nonetheless, the police have taken a knee for the past 5 years as addicts from up and down the East Coast come to Baltimore because we have “good dope”. Meanwhile, another Fentanyl overdose heads to the morgue.

When will we finally see a way out of this mess? All I know is that Baltimore is better than this, but sooner or later we have to address the 600-pound ‘apartheid’ gorilla in the room. Until we do that, the rest is mere subterfuge.
