Tech Leader and Youth Advocate Shantia Murphy Named 2026 Joe Manns Black Wall Street Award Honoree

Award Recognizes Her Work Building Legacy Through Girls’ Basketball and Youth Empowerment

(BALTIMORE – February 4, 2026) – Shantia Murphy, an IT specialist, basketball coach, and founder of Legacy House, will be honored at the 2026 Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards on Thursday at 6 pm at the Thurgood Marshall Amenity Center. The recognition celebrates her multifaceted approach to youth development, combining technology expertise with athletic mentorship and community advocacy.

RSVP to donigloverlive.eventbrite.com.

Murphy brings a unique blend of technical acumen and community leadership to her work. She holds a Master of Science in Health Systems Management from the University of Baltimore and a graduate degree in Computer Science, positioning her at the intersection of technology, healthcare, and strategic leadership.

“Shantia represents the evolution of Black Wall Street – she’s using her tech skills and business acumen to build infrastructure for the next generation,” said Doni Glover, founder of the Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards. “Legacy House isn’t just about basketball; it’s about creating pathways and building confidence in young women.”

As producer of the Money, Power, and Politics podcast, Murphy contributes to critical conversations exploring growth, influence, and impact in today’s rapidly changing landscape. Her work behind the microphone complements her hands-on community engagement.

But it’s on the basketball court where Murphy’s vision truly comes alive. Through Legacy House, she is building a brand focused on expanding opportunities for girls’ youth basketball. Her approach goes beyond developing athletic skills – she’s fostering sisterhood, mentoring young women in life skills, and creating a supportive community where girls can develop confidence, discipline, and leadership.

“Sports taught me so much about teamwork, perseverance, and believing in myself,” Murphy explains. “Legacy House is about passing that forward – giving young women a foundation they can build on, whether they pursue basketball or take those lessons into any field they choose.”

Murphy’s commitment to youth extends to her work as a youth ministry leader, where she leverages faith-based principles to guide and support young people navigating the challenges of adolescence and young adulthood.

Her work centers on a clear mission: building legacy through meaningful community impact and empowerment. By combining her IT expertise, coaching experience, and dedication to youth development, Murphy is creating sustainable pathways for young women to excel.

The Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards, established in 2011, has recognized over 3,000 entrepreneurs and community leaders across nine cities who are building economic power and opportunity in underrepresented communities.
