(BALTIMORE – September 26, 2026) – The best advice I can give a young person today is this: find what you love to do, something you’d almost do for nothing because you love it that much and you’re good at it. Remember: what Jamal does most, Jamal does best. So find your craft, whatever it may be. If God gave you the notion, the gift, the talent, the skill, and the desire, then pursue it with everything you’ve got.
Every expert was once a beginner. And let me tell you something else: talent is great, but you know what beats talent? Consistency, discipline, determination, and the ability to outwork the competition.
Still, putting your all into something doesn’t guarantee success. What ensures success is keeping God first, and that can mean many things to many people. But if you keep your intentions pure and bring a product or service to the marketplace that’s needed, one that brings convenience and a wholesome, positive, righteous experience, then by all means, go for it.
There will be tough times. That’s assured. But when we’re prepared, when we’ve saved our coins, reinvested in our business, and covered the basics, good times will follow. The God we serve assures that. Keep God first. Pray like it’s up to God, then work like it’s up to you, and success will come sooner or later.
I always tell fellow entrepreneurs: keep swinging. Sooner or later, you’ll clock it. I did. I’m 24 years in, heading to 25. And if I can do it, you can do it too.
