(BALTIMORE – October 18, 2023) – Longtime Maryland State Delegate Samuel “Sandy” Rosenberg endorsed Sheila Dixon for Mayor today, flipping from his support for Mayor Brandon Scott in the 2020 election. Rosenberg represents the 41st District, spanning from West Baltimore through Park Heights, Mt. Washington, and Roland Park.
Rosenberg praised Dixon’s leadership and experience in public service, stating, “Sheila Dixon has a record of accomplishment, of responsiveness, and it is my pleasure and honor to endorse her and work to help her become the next Mayor of the city.”
Dixon said, “Sandy and I have worked on many issues in this city and district, he has a very diverse community.
She added, “Delegate Rosenberg has worked tirelessly to make sure that the Pimlico Racetrack is redeveloped not just for racing, but to increase and enhance the surrounding community. I stand with him as we work towards making sure that all our communities receive a quality response from city services, and to make sure our city is safe.”
Rosenberg’s endorsement is the first from any Baltimore elected official in the 2024 mayoral contest.
According to Will Hanna, former legal analyst with the US Department of Justice and longtime Park Heights community, “Delegate Rosenber‘s support of former Mayor Dixon is significant because it was one of the blocs of votes that supported Mayor Scott.”
He continued, “Had it not been there in 2020, Sheila Dixon would have won. The endorsement symbolizes not just Sandy’s support, but the Jewish community’s support for Sheila.”
