“My motto is to add value and provide solutions.” – Craig Thompson

(ANNAPOLIS – March 6, 2023) – Craig Thompson, Esq. has just made history. A close friend to Gov. Wes Moore, the first Black governor of the state of Maryland, Thompson was confirmed tonight (43-0) to become the new head of the Maryland Stadium Authority.

This is the first time in history a Black has headed this entity.

“I am humbled and truly honored to join Governor Moore and the team at MSA, and look forward to working diligently to carry on the tradition of excellence in creating and managing important projects for the citizens of Maryland.”

He added, “The significance of this position and moment in history are not lost on me, and I promise to serve with integrity and a clear respect and appreciation for the strong shoulders on which I stand.”

Thompson, who works for the elite Venable LLP law firm, represents clients in the areas of commercial litigation, product liability, premises liability, and personal injury. He has always been an assertive trial lawyer and legal counselor with significant experience handling civil cases before federal and state courts throughout the country. His knowledge of technology, legal, and business administration enables him to resolve numerous cases by assessing liability and developing risk management strategies. His professional motto — “add value and provide solutions” — has guided him in the service of clients ranging from Fortune 500 corporations to mezzanine-level companies. He also has a thriving practice representing pharmacies against claims of alleged drug misfills.

Additionally, Thompson has great ties with the Baltimore community and for years hosted a two-way talk show on WEAA 88.9 FM at Morgan State University. During that time, he cultivated strong relationships with area leaders.

MD STADIUM AUTHORITY

Established by the General Assembly in 1986, the original mission was to build, manage, and maintain quality facilities to retain Major League Baseball, and return the National Football League to Maryland.

For 35 years, the Maryland Stadium Authority (MSA) has completed projects in partnership with local governments, universities and the private sector throughout Maryland. These include convention centers, museums, theaters, parks and campus centers in addition to sports arenas. They have been completed on time, on budget.

The MSA is committed to enhancing the Maryland experience for those who live, work and visit here.

In addition, MSA currently oversees projects such as 21st Century School Buildings Program and Project C.O.R.E. or Creating Opportunities for Renewal and Enterprise, which orchestrates the demolition of blighted structures throughout Baltimore City.

The sports commission for the state of Maryland, known as Maryland Sports, is a division of MSA and has been since its existence in 2008.
