Veteran Congressman Praises Jones as a “Dedicated, Experienced and Consistent Fighter” for Baltimore County Residents

(BALTIMORE COUNTY – May 2026) — Momentum continues to build for Baltimore County Councilman Julian E. Jones Jr. in the race for Baltimore County Executive as Congressman Kweisi Mfume officially announced his endorsement of the longtime public servant.

“Julian Jones is and has been a dedicated, experienced, and consistent fighter for the people of Baltimore County,” said Mfume. “That’s why I endorse and support him to become the next County Executive.”

The endorsement adds another influential voice to Jones’ growing coalition of supporters as the June 23 Democratic primary approaches. A veteran of county government and former chair of the Baltimore County Council for four terms, Jones has positioned himself as one of the most experienced candidates in the race.

Mfume praised Jones not only for his years of service, but also for his ability to unite communities around critical issues affecting working families, seniors, and neighborhoods throughout Baltimore County.

“Julian is a tireless advocate for change,” Mfume continued. “He brings people together around the important issues that matter. His work on behalf of communities, seniors, and working families continues to make a real difference in the lives of Baltimore County residents every day.”

For Jones, the endorsement represents more than political support. It reflects years of relationships built through public service, community engagement, and consistent presence across Baltimore County and the broader region.

Jones has steadily collected endorsements from major Democratic leaders in recent weeks, reinforcing the perception that his campaign has emerged as a formidable force heading into the final stretch of the election season.

A Dunbar graduate and one of the longest-serving members of the Baltimore County Council, Jones has frequently emphasized economic development, public safety, education, and government accountability throughout his campaign.

Mfume’s endorsement could carry significant weight among longtime Democratic voters, particularly in communities familiar with both men’s decades of public service and advocacy.

The Democratic primary for Baltimore County Executive is scheduled for June 23, 2026.
