After 46 Years of Service, Park Heights Dentist Dr. W.J. Richardson Retires
Dr. W.J. Richardson's favorite sayings: "Never say oops around a patient" and "God willing and the creek don't rise"

(BALTIMORE – June 9, 2026) – For nearly half a century, one familiar face has welcomed patients through the doors of a dental office on Park Heights Avenue. Today, the Park Heights community prepares to say goodbye to a man who has cared for generations of families.

Dr. W.J. Richardson, DDS, whose practice is located at 5418 Park Heights Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland, will retire after serving the Park Heights community since 1979.

Salute to Dr. W.J. Richardson

Suzette Hall, who worked with Dr. Richardson for almost 27 years, says he has been an amazing boss, mentor, father figure, and great friend who truly cares about people.

“He remains the same person he was when I first met him. Wishing him a happy and well-deserved retirement.”

A graduate of Saint Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, Virginia (undergrad), and the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, Dr. Richardson dedicated his professional life to providing quality dental care to residents throughout Northwest Baltimore. Over the years, he became more than a dentist. He became a trusted community figure, caring for grandparents, parents, children, and grandchildren from the same families.

“It has been an honor to know and work alongside a visionary in holistic dentistry,” said Janice Bruce. “Your passion for learning, healing, and caring for others has been an inspiration for many years. Thank you for the warmth and compassion you brought to every patient. Wishing you a joyful, healthy, and well-deserved retirement.”

“‘Never say oops around a patient’ was one of Dr. Richardson’s favorite reminders, and ‘God willing and the creek don’t rise’ was one of his favorite sayings,” said Jewel. “Those words always made me smile and reflected the care and kindness he showed to everyone around him. Thank you for the memories, the laughter, and the lessons. I salute you, Dr. Richardson, and wish you all the happiness your retirement brings.”

His commitment to Park Heights remained steadfast through decades of change in the neighborhood. Through his practice, Dr. Richardson built lasting relationships while helping improve the health and well-being of thousands of residents.

The accompanying photographs capture both the professionalism and compassion that defined Dr. Richardson’s career. One image shows Dr. Richardson in a formal portrait, while another captures him doing what he has done for decades, providing hands-on dental care to members of the community.

As his office prepares to close in the coming weeks, Dr. Richardson’s retirement marks the conclusion of a career that has spanned more than four decades of service to Park Heights.

Again, after 46 years of service, Park Heights is preparing to say farewell to one of its most respected and enduring community pillars.

Salute to Dr. W.J. Richardson
He’s my dentist, too!

“It has been a privilege to work alongside Dr. Richardson for 27 years,” Kim said. “I am grateful for his kindness, wisdom, and mentorship. I will always smile when I remember him asking, ‘Kim, are you having your personal summer?’ As he often said, ‘All good things must come to an end.’ Dr. Richardson, I salute you, my friend. Enjoy your well-deserved retirement.”

The drills fall silent. The final patient leaves with a smile. The familiar sounds of Sirius Radio fade away, and the lights dim. Then, with one final turn of the key, the doors close on 46 years of service to Park Heights.

Yet Dr. Richardson’s impact remains. It lives on through the families he served and the community that was fortunate enough to call him their dentist.

Park Heights thanks you, celebrates you, and wishes you all the best in this next chapter.

Well done, Dr. Richardson. Well done.
