Who is Terry?

Terry Tabor was born in Alexandria, VA, and currently resides in the Maryland area. She is a self-taught artist who began drawing at an early age. She inherited her talent from her father, Lee Edward Tabor, Sr., who was also an artist in his own right.

However, once she divorced and raised her daughter alone – life got in the way and Terry stopped drawing and literally forgot she knew how to draw until years later when her grandkids found her old drawing pad. Terry hasn’t seen it in over 20 years. That brought about a fantastic spark. She felt it was God reminding her of the talent he gave her at an early age.

At the age of 55, she had found her niche! She felt this was what she could do when she retired! And at the age of 66, she retired from the job she loved but was making her drained from late hours working and traveling. She enjoys painting on canvas as well as the art of hand painting on silk. She successfully completed the Silk Art Painting Courses and painted on canvas at the Harmony Hall Regional Center in Fort Washington, MD, and in VA and NC. She has also studied silk painting under Diane Tuckman, an artist, and author from Egypt. She discovered a fun and easy way to paint on silk and loved showing it to others. You don’t need to know how to draw in order to dye your own silk scarf or any silk items. Doing this help release stress and build your self-esteem by embracing the hidden creativity inside.

Terry gets her inspiration from trees; The Bible says; “He shall be like a Tree” (Palsms 1:3).

Terry teaches beginners silk painting and hosts private silk painting parties. Whether it’s a kid’s birthday party, girl’s night, pajamas party, book club, bachelorette party, baby shower, couples group party, retreat, Seniors art activity, or just a different fun get-together, she will exceed your expectations for a fun and unique silk dye or painting event.

Memberships: The Pierians Corp., Sisters4Sisters Network, Inc., Silk Painting International Network, Christian Giving Circle, Advisory Board for Ryanne Mone Modeling Production, Tanner Community Resource Center, Inc. (TCRC), and St. Paul Methodist Church.
