Jerry Cross

(BALTIMORE – February 18, 2023) – Jerry Cross is a one-of-a-kind person who loves Baltimore. No one can question that. He has been a community advocate since the 90s and always keeps the people in the community first. He is a no-nonsense type of person who is going to tell you the truth whether you like it or not. Not to be rude, Jerry is simply a straight-up person who has helped countless people – especially in Sandtown, and wastes very little time on foolishness. He is an icon whose walk matches his talk and is truly deserving of this honor.

On February 28th, BMORENews.com is proud to announce that Mr. Cross will be receiving the Joe Manns Black Wall Street Award. He has been a longtime supporter of the efforts here at BMORENews and he is highly appreciated.

About this event

The City of Baltimore has a rich Black business history, one of national and international proportions. From Tom Smith and Willie Adams to Harry Wilson to Dorothy Brunson and Reginald F. Lewis, this city has produced iconic figures in a number of industries. And let’s not forget Osborne Payne, Henry Parks, Raymond V. Haysbert, Robert Lee Clay, and Arnold Jolivet. These business legends advocated for Black businesses, helped change policies, and ultimately made the pathway easier for us today.

Jesus! We can’t forget the late Congressman Parren J. Mitchell. Heck, he helped author the federal 8(A) program which helped create a whole new class of Black millionaires.
