Derrick Burnett, President & CEO of AEI-DESIGN BUILD LLC

(RANDALLSTOWN, MD – March 26, 2026) — When you talk about building — not just structures, but systems, communities, and long-term wealth — Derrick Burnett is part of that conversation.

On Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 4 to 6 p.m. at 8128 Liberty Road, Burnett will be honored at Black Wall Street MILFORD MILL 2.0, a gathering that continues to spotlight the entrepreneurs and professionals shaping the economic future of Northwest Baltimore County.

As President and CEO of AEI-DESIGN BUILD LLC, Burnett represents a rare combination of vision, technical expertise, and execution.

Building More Than Structures

At AEI-DESIGN BUILD LLC, Burnett has built a firm that operates at the intersection of real estate development, design, construction, and renewable energy. The mission is clear: create energy-efficient, cost-effective, income-generating facilities that don’t just serve today’s needs — but position owners for long-term sustainability and wealth.

This is not theoretical work.

This is applied, real-world impact.

Burnett’s approach reflects decades of experience in managing complex projects from concept to completion — ensuring that every phase, from feasibility to final construction, aligns with both economic and environmental efficiency.

A Career Rooted in Precision and Leadership

Before leading AEI, Burnett spent years shaping major projects across the region.

As a Senior Project Manager with JGMS, he played a key role in overseeing projects tied to the National Guard Headquarters, navigating design, budgeting, and regulatory compliance across multiple states.

Earlier in his career, he spent more than a decade with AEI-DESIGN BUILD GROUP, where he:

  • Led feasibility studies and project development
  • Managed full-cycle design and construction processes
  • Coordinated contractors, architects, and stakeholders
  • Delivered cost-effective, energy-conscious solutions

His ability to bring together technical teams, regulatory requirements, and client vision has made him a trusted leader in the built environment.

Strategy Meets Execution

In addition to his work in development and construction, Burnett has served since 2011 as a Senior Marketing Executive at CAEI, Inc., where he has helped shape business development strategy and organizational growth.

His leadership includes:

  • Driving marketing and business development strategy
  • Leading teams to identify and secure new opportunities
  • Strengthening organizational culture and brand reputation
  • Building strategic partnerships across industries

In short: he doesn’t just build projects — he builds pipelines.

Education and Foundation

Burnett holds a professionally accredited Bachelor of Architecture degree from Hampton University and a Certificate in Real Estate Development from Johns Hopkins University.

His academic foundation, combined with decades of field experience, gives him both the theory and the practice — a combination that shows up in every project he touches.

Commitment to Community

Beyond business, Burnett has remained deeply committed to community engagement across Baltimore County.

His service includes leadership roles with:

  • The Hubert V. Simmons Museum of Negro League Baseball
  • The Baltimore County African American Cultural Festival
  • Liberty Road Baseball (Baltimore County Recreation & Parks)
  • The National Hampton Alumni Association (Baltimore Chapter)
  • The Benjamin Banneker Museum in Catonsville

Whether mentoring youth, supporting cultural institutions, or organizing community events, Burnett’s work reflects a broader understanding of legacy.

Why This Honor Matters

Black Wall Street MILFORD MILL is about recognizing individuals who are not waiting for opportunity — they are creating it.

Derrick Burnett embodies that spirit.

He represents a generation of Black professionals who understand that ownership, infrastructure, and energy innovation are key pillars of economic empowerment.

And on April 11, the community will recognize just that.
