Who is Jennifer? Â
As District Government Recreation Specialist Senior Program Coordinator for the District of Columbia, Jennifer spearhead and manage daily, activities, events, and programs and ensure that everything runs smoothly and efficiently for our Senior Citizens 55 years and older.
She also sets goals and objectives, secures funding, partnerships, and sponsorships while overseeing the workforce, and also establishes guidelines for a safe and healthy environment. Jennifer formerly served as the Temporary Director of the Senior Services Division in a leadership role 5 different times for the agency, then became the Vice President of AFGE Local Union 2741. She has 23 years and counting in the District of Columbia Government as well as a member of the AFGE.
She said, “I love what I do for our communities, politicians, and union members!”
Jennifer graduated from high school in 1993 as the Senior Class Speaker, and currently attends Eastern Gateway Community College (EGCC) through AFGE to receive her Paralegal Certification to better support union members; completion is expected in March 2023. She is also furthering her education with the Labor Law and Labor Arbitration Institute and will continue to further it after receiving her Paralegal Certification.
Jennifer’s first job was with the Summer Youth Employment Program in Prince George’s County, Andrews Air Force Base at Malcolm Groove Medical Center. From there, she worked at Dykema Gossett Law Firm.
She is a resident of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and was born in Palmer Park. She is the super proud mother of a daughter, Dyamond A. McClaine (26 years old), and a son, Troy J. Burch (21 years old).
In September 2022, Jennifer was invited to attend the 2022 DNC Event with AFGE, and stood directly behind President Biden as he spoke to America’s Largest Labor Union. In October 2022, she was invited back to the White House to attend Pres. Joe Biden’s first White House Trick-or-Treat event and then invited back in November 2022 to be part of The White House Communities in Action – Building a Better Maryland.
