From Broadway to the Crossroads of the World: Black Wall Street CHELSEA Honors Taylor Varga of the Times Square Alliance

(NEW YORK – April 6, 2026) – Long before Taylor Varga was coordinating with the NYPD and helping manage one of the most iconic public spaces on the planet, they were standing in the spotlight on Broadway — earning the Best Actor award at the Jimmy Awards in 2013. That early chapter foreshadowed everything that would follow: a career built at the intersection of performance, production, and public life.

Taylor’s connection to Times Square began not as a professional, but as a freshman intern at the Times Square Alliance in 2015. Something about the work — or perhaps the place itself — stuck. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Ithaca College in 2017 with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in Marketing and Communications, Taylor returned — this time full-time.

The entertainment world had already offered compelling detours. Internships at Disney Theatrical Group and CBS Consumer Products — where Taylor helped manage social media for the legendary Star Trek franchise — provided insight into how major cultural institutions communicate with the public. But it was operations, not glamour, that ultimately called Taylor back to Midtown.

Since rejoining the Alliance, Taylor has risen steadily: from Operations Coordinator to Plaza Manager, then Senior Manager, and now Director of Production & Operations. In this role, Taylor serves as a key liaison to city agencies including the Street Activity Permit Office, the NYPD, and the Department of Transportation. Few people understand Times Square the way Taylor does — not just as a global tourist destination, but as a living, breathing civic space that demands constant coordination, creativity, and commitment.

In 2025, Taylor completed the Coro Neighborhood Leadership Program, adding formal civic leadership training to an already impressive professional record spanning the arts, entertainment, and urban operations.

For all of these reasons — the journey from competitive musical theater to one of New York’s most demanding operational roles, the decade-long commitment to a single civic institution, and a demonstrated dedication to public service — Black Wall Street CHELSEA is proud to honor Taylor Varga at its April 14th ceremony in New York City.
