(BALTIMORE – October 29, 2024)—Be sure to RSVP for BMORENews.com’s Black Wall Street SOIREE, our annual fundraiser to support our Joe Manns Black Wall Street initiative, on Thursday, December 5, 2024 (6 to 9 pm) at the Downtown Cultural Arts Center at 401 N. Howard Street. RSVP to https://blackwallstreetsoiree.eventbrite.com/.

As always, the event will feature the Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards where we celebrate Black entrepreneurs and professionals as well as the people who support them regardless of race.

Honorees will include clothier Dapper Luq.

Who is Dapper?

Luqman Haskett, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, has been a lifelong lover of fashion. In 2014, after two consecutive military deployments, Luqman decided to share his passion for men’s fashion with the world, creating the Dapper Luq name and blog. This platform eventually transitioned into a modeling career after he collaborated and appeared in a charity calendar. Following the calendar, Luqman graced runways across the United States, including New York, Washington, D.C., and Richmond, VA.

In 2017, Dapper Luq joined the online radio network “Famous Radio Live,” where he produced and hosted his show “The Dapper Hour.” On the show, he shared his insights on fashion, interviewed guests, and discussed fashion events in the Hampton Roads area. In 2018, Luq launched The Dapper Luq YouTube Channel, allowing his audience to accompany him to numerous fashion events worldwide. His travels included visits to fashion weeks in Los Angeles, New York, Ghana, and South Africa.

In 2020, after retiring from the military, Dapper Luq officially launched his custom suit line, Dapper Luq Collection, focusing on unique suit colors and styles for both men and women. Throughout 2020, he showcased his collection at fashion weeks in Algeria, Tanzania, and Ghana. Additionally, Dapper Luq opened the first Dapper Luq Collection Showroom in Virginia Beach, VA, and in August 2022, he opened a second showroom in Baltimore, MD.

As we move into 2025, Dapper Luq plans to fully staff both his showrooms and create a new fashion collection to showcase at fashion weeks across the United States and Africa.
