(BALTIMORE – October 31, 2023) – The Aspen Institute’s Weave: The Social Fabric Project, in partnership with M&T Bank, is hosting a celebration to honor 20 Baltimoreans who are weaving their neighborhoods together to address shared needs and build social trust. Each Awardee is receiving a $5,000 grant to support their projects and outreach efforts. These “weavers” live across the city, but each share the common thread of striving to recognize the inherent dignity in all people, create belonging, and inspire mutual support among neighbors.
The party, with music, food, and dancing, will be a unique chance for the media to capture stories of community building, resilience, and the power of connection. Awardees will be available for interviews and photos throughout the event.

About the Aspen Institute’s Weave: The Social Fabric Project
Weave: The Social Fabric Project tackles the problem of broken social trust that has left Americans divided, lonely, and in social gridlock. Weave connects, supports, and invests in local leaders stepping up to weave a new, inclusive social fabric where they live. The project was founded by New York Times columnist and author David Brooks at The Aspen Institute. David Brooks serves as its chair and Frederick Riley is Weave’s Executive Director.
