40th District Legislative Update
Inside the State Senate: Your Legislative Update from Senator Hayes

Dear Residents of District 40,

I hope this letter finds you well. As always, I am committed to keeping you informed about the latest developments in our community. Here’s what’s happening in Annapolis  this week:

I’m thrilled to share with you an exciting endorsement announcement. After careful consideration and evaluation, I am pleased to announce our endorsement of Angela Alsobrooks for the U.S. Senate. Angela’s dedication to public service and deep commitment to our community make her the best candidate to represent us in the Senate. I urge you to join me in supporting her campaign as we work together for a better future.

Additionally, I’d like to remind you of the upcoming bill hearings next week. We have four bills coming up in the finance committee: SB705: Health Insurance- Qualified Resident Enrollment Program, SB22, SB904, and SB1008, all of which deal with revising the current guidelines for the liquor licensing board and license provisions. SB 417: Election Administration – State Administrator, Local Boards, and Election Directors is scheduled to be heard by the Education, Energy, and Environment Committee. Your feedback and participation in this process are critical, so mark your calendars and reach out to our office if you have any questions.

Looking ahead, District 40 Night is quickly approaching and we hope to see you March 4th, 6-8pm. It promises to be an evening full of meaningful conversations, community engagement, and chances to connect with your neighbors.

Please save the date for the Scholarship Award Ceremony on June 24th. This event will recognize our local students’ academic achievements and provide deserving individuals with the resources they need to pursue their educational goals.

Finally, I am pleased to inform you that the Executive Nomination Committee has approved nominations for the Public Service Commission and the Cannabis Administration Director. These appointments are an important step towards ensuring effective governance and leadership in our state.

Thank you for your continued support and engagement in our community. Together, we can achieve great things for District 40.

Sincerely,
Senator Antonio Hayes
