‘Wonderful People’: UVA Community Pays Tribute to Lost Student-Athletes

(CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – November 15, 2022) – Teammates, coaches, administrators, and professors were among those paying tribute Monday to University of Virginia football players Devin Chandler, Lavel Davis Jr., and D’Sean Perry, the three students slain in Sunday’s shooting on Grounds.

First-year head football coach Tony Elliott called Chandler, Davis, and Perry “incredible young men with huge aspirations and extremely bright futures.” Elliott, in a statement posted to UVA football’s social media accounts, said it was hard to describe the devastation and heartache that his team was feeling.

“These precious young men were called away too soon,” Elliott said. “We are all fortunate to have them be a part of our lives. They touched us, inspired us, and worked incredibly hard as representatives of our program.” READ IN FULL
