Why National Black Voter Day Matters
NAACP

(BALTIMORE – September 20, 2024) – Today is National Black Voter Day, dedicated to amplifying Black voters’ power. From crucial issues like student loan relief to lowering medical costs, our votes have shaped policy at the highest levels of government. This election, we’ve committed $20 million to educate and support Black voters so we can continue to have a say in our future.

With 45 days until November 5, we must ensure every Black vote is counted. National Black Voter Day ensures we are informed, registered, and ready to VOTE.

Here’s how you can prepare:

  • Register to vote: If you’re not registered, take a few minutes today to secure your right to vote.
  • Verify your registration status: Ensure your information is current so you’re ready for Election Day.
  • Request an absentee ballot: If you plan to vote by mail, request your absentee ballot now to ensure your vote counts.
  • Stay informed with election reminders: Sign up for text and email alerts on important election dates and deadlines.
  • Report Voting Issues: If you encounter issues registering to vote, use the NAACP Voter Incident Report Form or call 1-866-OUR-VOTE (866.687.8683).

The strength of the Black community lies in our ability to make our voices heard when it matters most. This National Black Voter Day, let’s make it clear that our vote is our voice come November. And we will shout. Visit our website for resources to prepare for Election Day.
