TGR: THANK YOU, HARLEM!
Black Wall Street HARLEM 2023

SPECIAL THANKS: Maryland-Washington Minority Companies Association, STEMCITYUSA.com, Kendra Banks, Dr. Wilbert Wilson, Baltimore City Councilman Dr. John Bullock, & Rondy Griffin.

By Doni Glover, Publisher

(HARLEM – April 22, 2023) – At BMORENews.com, we love Harlem! Of course, we love Baltimore! Baltimore is home. But it’s something about Harlem. It has a certain je ne sais quoi, if you will. From the brownstones – which I absolutely adore to the vibe of the people.

Every single Black Wall Street event in New York has been wonderful. From our very first awards summit at the United Nations to Weeksville and Brooklyn Borough Hall – from Lower Manhattan uptown to Harlem – New York City has given BMORENews nothing but love.

I’m just saying that Harlem has that flavor, baby! It just does!

And so, too, do the people who make these awards happen every single time. First, there is Walter Edwards, a business legend who is known across the world. For me, it all starts with him. The Harlem Business Alliance, of which he is an institutional part, has hosted countless Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards for which we are eternally grateful. Monique Hector runs the day-to-day for the business organization committed to serving our community.

There is also Tasemere Gathers, CEO of the DM Firm. Tasemere is a multi-talented businesswoman who also hosts a show (“The Blackout”) on our sister site, BlackUSA.News. Tasemere is relentless in identifying talent not just in New York, but across the country.

And we cannot forget Regina Smith, former Executive Director of the Harlem Business Alliance.

Last but not least, many thanks to Victor Pate. Just like Tasemere, Pate ensures we have some top-notch honorees. However, his nominations relate specifically to those in the returning citizens’ community. Given how much our community is disaffected by mass incarceration, we want to continue to highlight the stories of “overcome“.

Honorees this time included:

Wayne Smith

Duane Chan Shue

Lonett “Cookie” Williams

Ruth McDaniels

Neil Berry

Brenda Ricketts &

Phil Gates.
