The Glover Report
By Doni Glover | July 4, 2025 (BALTIMORE – July 4, 2025) — From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Doni Glover 6.0 was more than a birthday celebration — it was a testament to love, legacy, and the strength of community. As I step into this new decade, I am humbled by the overwhelming support that poured in from every corner. You showed up with joy, encouragement, and purpose — and together, we created something unforgettable. To our honorees, thank you for your work, your leadership, and your impact. Each of you embodies the spirit of Black Wall…
By Doni Glover (BALTIMORE – November 9, 2023) – Life unfolds with remarkable opportunities that often go unnoticed. It’s easy to succumb to the belief that our daily existence is confined to the commonplace, a cycle of mediocrity that surrounds us. However, this message isn’t for those content with their current path. If you harbor aspirations for something extraordinary, then this is for you. Every day presents a unique choice – to embrace personal power, productivity, and authenticity or to settle for mediocrity. This call to action is especially directed at my students, entrepreneurs, and those on the path to…
(BALTIMORE – November 9, 2023) – When you bring together Dr. Tyrone Taborn and his brilliant wife, Jean Hamilton, in the same room as “Fearless” CEO Delali Dzirasa, and add City’s MBE Chief Chris Lundy, along with local media and tech moguls like Rondy Griffin, LaKisha Greenwade, and CTEC’s Michael Smith, brace yourself for an extraordinary experience. Luna Del Sea on Pratt Street set the stage for this spectacle as Dr. Taborn hosted the inaugural event heralding the return of BEYA38 to Baltimore in February 2024. A stone’s throw away, the Inner Harbor was abuzz with talk about P. David Bramble,…
By Doni Glover, Publisher (BALTIMORE – November 2, 2023) – Originally, members of the faith leadership community in Sandtown came together to form Clergy United to Save Sandtown back in the 1990s. St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church’s Father Damien Nalepa, now deceased, was one of the founders. This was over 20 years ago when the Sandtown-Winchester Community was under the graces of then-Mayor Kurt L. Schmoke. That was the first and last time this historic West Baltimore community saw any type of major investment by the City of Baltimore or foundations. During the 90s, a plethora of nonprofit organizations…
By Doni Glover, Publisher (BALTIMORE – October 31, 2023) – Thanks to Larry Jennings, I had the opportunity to meet one of Baltimore’s shining stars. He is already a pastry chef, but has even greater aspirations. Upon meeting him, I just had to share his story far and wide because all too often, a different picture is painted of the young Black man in urban America. This is a beautiful story about one in Baltimore making phenomenal strides toward excellence. Honestly, we, as a community, can share in knowing that there are other Calebs out there, too. On that note,…
By Doni Glover, Publisher (BALTIMORE – October 28, 2023) – In a few weeks, this Black-owned digital news organization (BMORENews.com) will celebrate its 21st Anniversary. The event is December 9th at Baltimore Unity Hall and serves as our annual fundraiser. To support, go to BlackWallStreetREUNION.eventbrite.com. As this event approaches, I cannot help but meditate on the ‘soldiers without swords’ who wrote about the ills against Black people and who advocated for our collective freedom since the birth of the first African American newspaper, Freedom’s Journal, in New York City on March 16, 1827. Samuel Cornish and John Russwurm, of course,…
By Doni Glover, Publisher (BALTIMORE – October 25, 2023) – From the perspective of African Americans in Baltimore, the introduction of bike lanes has added significant complexity to the lives of indigenous Baltimoreans. This issue extends beyond just bike lanes, as it involves a perceived imposition of changes without adequate community involvement. Baltimore City is currently proposing the expansion of sidewalks to reduce car traffic on various streets within a city where the Black population comprises 63%. However, these traffic-calming measures have led to daily traffic backups on North Avenue at Mt. Royal. Driving along 28th Street in the direction of…
By Doni Glover, Publisher (BALTIMORE – October 4, 2023) – The Baltimore City Department of Planning called for a meeting several months back at St. James Episcopal Church on Lafayette and Arlington. They wanted to discuss their new plans for our community which included expanding the sidewalks 20 feet on both sides of Fremont Avenue – beginning down the bottom where the projects used to be. So, we posed the question: Where will we park? It doesn’t matter that most of the people from Planning were white and speaking to us, 100% Black, while wearing masks. Well, it did feel…
By Doni Glover, Publisher (BALTIMORE – September 27, 2023) – First and foremost, thank God for tonight’s Coppin State University Alumni TOWN HALL. It was both in-person at Coppin’s new Health and Human Services Building on the south side of North Avenue and it was virtual. A litany of topics were covered. To say the least, as the moderator – it was simply beautiful to witness first-hand the very strong, multigenerational Coppin pride, love, and admiration on the faces of the beautiful people in the room. Each and every one of these alumni has a story. It’s not your story.…
By Doni Glover, Publisher (TOWSON – September 21, 2023) – Mo’s Seafood in Towson was the site of tonight’s Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards by BMORENews.com. It was a magnificent event with some timely conversation regarding the State of Black America. A. Rod Womack and Bob Ingram, both honorees, gave their insight. These men have known each other for decades and have been longstanding giants in the entrepreneurial community. They gave their insight on business, our youth, and on the future. So, too, did Bianca Wise. Mark Booker, a Ph.D. candidate and college professor who works teaching inmates at…
By Doni Glover, Publisher (BALTIMORE – September 20, 2023) – In one corner, there is Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott. Is he perfect? No! Is he doing his best? Presumably so. In the other corner is former Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon. No, she is not perfect. And yes, there are those keen observers of politics who recall when Baltimore was safer under her watch. A recent editorial by Baltimore’s favorite mainstream press (just joking), the Baltimore Sun, brings up – you guessed it, her indiscretion of the past. Yep, the gift cards. The first thing that comes to mind, oddly, is the…
