(WASHINGTON, D.C. – August 27, 2025) – Congressman Kweisi Mfume (MD-07) issued the following statement regarding reports that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) mishandled sensitive Social Security data: “Unfortunately, but unsurprisingly, Trump’s actions have put Americans’ right to privacy at risk again. The operatives at DOGE recklessly uploaded the entire Social Security database—including names, birthdates, and other sensitive personal data—to an unsecured cloud, bypassing legal safeguards and exposing the private information of over 300 million Americans to a private entity without their consent. As the Ranking Member of the House Oversight Subcommittee on Government Operations, I want answers,” said Congressman…

AUGUST 17, 2022 By signing the Inflation Reduction Act, President Biden is delivering on his promise to build an economy that works for working families, including Black families. The Inflation Reduction Act lowers prescription drug costs, health care costs, and energy costs. It’s the most aggressive action we have taken to confront the climate crisis. It’ll lower the deficit and ask the super wealthy and corporations to pay their fair share. And no one making under $400,000 per year will pay a penny more in taxes. President Biden and Congressional Democrats beat back the special interests to pass this historic…

(ANNAPOLIS – August 15, 2022) –Today, the members of the Maryland State Board of Elections (SBE) voted to file an emergency petition in a circuit court to seek approval to canvass mail-in ballots prior to Election Day. The petition will also require that any results from any pre-Election Day canvassing be withheld until the polls close on Election Day. All four members of the State Board of Elections voted in support of the motion. Given Maryland’s experience in the primary election and the expected and continued expansion of mail-in balloting, the inability of the local boards of elections to canvass…

Dear Family, I want to thank you again for your support of my campaign, but also for the support you lent to other candidates I endorsed like Wes Moore, our Democratic nominee for Governor. I was proud to have been one of the very first elected officials to publicly endorse Wes Moore. This is because I knew early on that he was the type of Governor that we needed — a dynamic thought-leader focused on the best interests of all Marylanders across the State. With Wes as Governor, the future of Maryland is bright. As a token of appreciation for…
