(RANDALLSTOWN – March 27, 2026) – I have to be honest. I’m not just saddened — I’m alarmed. What I’m hearing from some leaders in Northwest Baltimore County right now sounds less like strategy and more like disunity at the worst possible moment. On June 23rd, Baltimore County voters face a historic crossroads. For the first time ever, a non-white male candidate has a real shot at leading the county. Given everything people of color have built and contributed here, this moment is long overdue. Moments like this don’t come often — and when we mishandle them, we pay for it…
(BALTIMORE – April 8, 2024) – On this last day of the 2024 Maryland General Assembly, we think it’s important to give our supporters some important information about the forces that shape the political landscape in Annapolis. As many of you know, our major focus was defending the progress that Maryland made over the past couple of years on juvenile justice reform. Maryland is among the worst states in the US regarding the violation of the human rights of children. Even though Maryland is a Democratic Party stronghold, the majority of the children in Maryland are non-white, which would explain…
By Doni Glover, Publisher (BALTIMORE – April 1, 2024) – Although the May 14th Primary Election in Baltimore is just around the corner, this political analyst sees a relatively quiet landscape. While there are indeed some pretty interesting races brewing, including the battle for the two top posts in the city, this has to be one of the quietest elections in recent years. According to one political pundit, Andy Pierre, “It’s too quiet!” Pierre, who has managed and advised campaigns locally and nationally, said, “I guess people are looking to see how this pans out.” He added, “In terms of…

(WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 7, 2024) – The growing number of migrants seeking entry into the United States at its border with Mexico has strained government resources, divided Congress and emerged as a contentious issue in the 2024 presidential campaign. Americans overwhelmingly fault the government for how it has handled the migrant situation. Beyond that, however, there are deep differences – over why the migrants are coming to the U.S., proposals for addressing the situation, and even whether it should be described as a “crisis.” READ IN FULL

(BALTIMORE – February 27, 2024) – Mount Lebanon Baptist Church is featuring a mayoral forum tomorrow. It should be very interesting, to say the least.
“If we continue to allow Washington politicians to put us all in their pre-prescribed boxes on abortion, the vast majority will simply refrain from engaging, and the debate will continue to be controlled by the extremes.” (ANNAPOLIS, MD – February 20, 2024) — Governor Larry Hogan today published a piece in The Washington Post on abortion and the state of politics. The piece is available here, and below: The extremes should not control the abortion conversation The moment I entered the race to serve Maryland in the U.S. Senate, partisan politicians began launching a familiar playbook of scare tactics and…

By Richard Elliott (BOWIE – January 31, 2024) – The January 26 Survivors of Gun Violence Summit brought together survivors, researchers, advocates, and community leaders to discuss solutions and serve as a call to action regarding gun violence in our community. The symposium sought to elevate survivor-centric advocacy, data-driven solutions, community empowerment and a collaborative approach between the different organizations and leaders present. “It was important to bring together stakeholders to support survivors of gun violence in their advocacy to prevent tragedies of losing loved ones to senseless shootings,” said Congressman Glenn Ivey (D- District 4). “Having science-based research and…
(BOWIE – January 14, 2024) – Prince George’s largest town has celebrated yet another historic milestone with the swearing-in of Dwayne Preston as the official police chief, the first Black police chief in Bowie’s history. Preston, a veteran of the Prince George’s County Police Department, served as the acting Chief from September until January 2. He is only the third chief since the Bowie Police Department was founded in 2006. “After an exhaustive, nationwide search, I am proud to say that Dwayne Preston is the best person to head up the Bowie Police Department,” said City Manager Alfred Lott in a…
