LRW Traffic Systems founder brings Black Wall Street spirit to BENEDETTO 2.0

(BALTIMORE – April 23, 2026) – When Robert Scott-Coples decided to bet on himself, he wasn’t just launching a company. He was making a statement.

After more than 16 years working in damage prevention, the Baltimore native walked away from the familiar and founded LRW Traffic Systems, LLC in July 2019. He started with two employees and a mission: provide safe, reliable traffic control solutions — and create real opportunities for people in the community.

Fast forward to 2026, and that mission is paying off in a major way.

LRW Traffic Systems now employs more than 250 people. The company has acquired over 70 vehicles, a mobile office, and critical equipment — all through disciplined reinvestment and smart financial management, with minimal debt. In just six years, Scott-Coples has built one of the most impressive minority-owned businesses in the region.

Specializing in traffic control, traffic management plans, and site setups, LRW plays a quiet but critical role in keeping Baltimore — and communities beyond — safe every single day.

But the numbers only tell part of the story.

Scott-Coples has made it a point to hire locally — opening doors for individuals who may have faced barriers to traditional employment. Workers don’t just get jobs at LRW. Through on-the-job training and a partnership with Truist Bank, they get access to financial education and tools for long-term stability. That’s not just employment. That’s empowerment.

Outside the job site, Scott-Coples sponsors local sports teams, supports charitable causes, and volunteers with underprivileged youth. He understands that a business rooted in the community has a responsibility to that community.

This Sunday, April 26, BMORENews and the Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards will recognize Robert Scott-Coples as an honoree at Black Wall Street BENEDETTO 2.0 — a special celebration held at 110 W. Mulberry Street in Baltimore, coinciding with the grand opening and 25th anniversary weekend of Kevin Scott’s redeveloped location.

The ribbon cutting begins at 2:30 PM. The awards ceremony follows at 3:00 PM.

Scott-Coples joins a legacy of more than 3,000 honorees recognized across nine cities over 15 years of the Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards — entrepreneurs who prove every day that Black ownership matters, that community investment matters, and that success built from the ground up is the most powerful kind.

His message to the next generation is simple and undeniable: ownership is possible. And he’s living proof.
