"Akeelah and the Bee"
(BALTIMORE – October 18, 2024) – Residents of the Mondawmin neighborhood are invited to a Spelling Bee and Free Screening of “Akeelah and the Bee” at Herbert Street Park on Friday, October 18, hosted by the Greater Mondawmin Coordinating Council, the Robert W. Coleman Community Organization, and the West North Avenue Development Authority (WNADA).
The spelling bee begins at 5 pm, and the movie starts at 6 pm.  Herbert Street Park is in the 2100 block of Herbert Street (2139 Herbert Street, 21216).
The Spelling Bee, suitable for children aged 8-12, will feature Robert Coleman and Gwynns Falls Elementary School students.
“We are thrilled to celebrate our neighbors and the green areas in West Baltimore with this family-friendly event,” stated West North Avenue Development Authority executive director Chad Williams. “Movie night is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and enjoy a fun-filled evening.”
This exciting event is free for neighborhood residents; no registration is required. It is part of Baltimore City Recreation and Park’s Rhythm and Reels initiative.
Neighbors should bring a chair or blanket and get comfortable for a fun and magical movie night experience.
