(BALTIMORE – February 17, 2023) – The City of Baltimore has a rich Black business history, one of national and international proportions. From Tom Smith and Willie Adams to Harry Wilson to Dorothy Brunson and Reginald F. Lewis, this city has produced iconic figures in a number of industries. And let’s not forget Osborne Payne, Henry Parks, Raymond V. Haysbert, Robert Lee Clay, and Arnold Jolivet. These business legends advocated for Black businesses, helped change policies, and ultimately made the pathway easier for us today.

Jesus! We can’t forget the late Congressman Parren J. Mitchell. Heck, he helped author the federal 8(A) program which helped create a whole new class of Black millionaires.
