(BALTIMORE, MD – July 12, 2026) — Communities become stronger when residents decide that they will not simply accept the status quo.
They become stronger when people organize.
When neighbors unite.
When ordinary citizens become extraordinary advocates.
That is why BMORENews and BlackUSA.News are proud to honor Carson Juliette Ward with the Joe Manns Black Wall Street Award during the Black Wall Street Summit: National Black Business Month Edition, Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in West Baltimore.
Ward represents a new generation of leaders who understand that meaningful change happens when people are informed, engaged, and empowered to shape the future of their communities.
A community advocate and marketing strategist, Ward has built a career at the intersection of public impact and organizational growth. Whether advancing civil rights, building strategic partnerships, or helping organizations communicate more effectively, she has consistently demonstrated an ability to bring people together around a common purpose.
Her leadership became especially evident through her work with the Reservoir Hill Association, where she helped transform a neighborhood concern into one of the Baltimore region’s most significant environmental justice and civil rights campaigns.
As Chair of the Association, Ward united residents, legal advocates, elected officials, and community stakeholders in response to a federally backed infrastructure project that residents believed would adversely affect their neighborhood. Through public engagement, coalition building, testimony, and grassroots organizing, the campaign grew into a nationally recognized effort.
Among its most significant achievements was securing legal representation through the New York University School of Law’s Civil Rights and Racial Justice Clinic, whose Title VI complaint prompted the U.S. Department of Transportation to open a federal civil rights investigation.
The campaign also attracted national media attention through coverage by The 19th, Black Enterprise, The Baltimore Sun, and The Baltimore Banner, while creating opportunities to engage policymakers, including Congressman Kweisi Mfume and Congresswoman Maxine Waters.
Ward also helped secure six-figure state grant funding to establish a community development corporation, creating a foundation for long-term investment and resident-led revitalization in Reservoir Hill.
Although she never envisioned herself becoming a community advocate, Ward believes meaningful change begins when people understand not only what is happening, but why it matters—and when they are given the opportunity to help shape the outcome.
That same philosophy has guided her professional career across media, entertainment, live experiences, marketing, and the beauty industry. Throughout her work, she has developed a reputation for translating complex ideas into meaningful action while building relationships that produce measurable results.
The Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards were established to recognize individuals who build institutions, strengthen communities, and expand opportunities for others.
Carson Juliette Ward embodies those ideals.
Her work reminds us that leadership is not always found behind a podium or in elected office. Sometimes it begins with a resident willing to ask difficult questions, organize neighbors, and insist that communities deserve to have their voices heard.
Congratulations to Carson Juliette Ward, one of the newest recipients of the Joe Manns Black Wall Street Award.
