Phillip Ellison, Entrepreneur. Harlem.

(HARLEM – August 4, 2022) – Do not miss Black Wall Street HARLEM, set for Fri., Aug. 12, 2022, from 4:30 to 6 pm at the Harlem Business Alliance located at 275 Malcolm X. Blvd. RSVP to Blackwallstreetharlem10.eventbrite.com. Presented by Bmorenews.com, the DM Firm, R.E.A.L. Radio, and the Harlem Business Alliance, this event will feature the Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards.

Since 2011, Bmorenews.com, a Baltimore news site, and its partners have been celebrating Black entrepreneurs and professionals as well as the people who support them regardless of race. To date, we have honored over 1,900 individuals in 9 US cities.

By the way, this is the 10th year of the awards in New York City.

Honorees include Phillip Ellison.

Who is Phillip?

Phillip Ellison is a Harlem-based connector and community builder, creative problem solver, and advocate. He is currently working at the intersections of emerging markets (cannabis and tech), culture, and community impact. He is a member of the New York Processors and Growers Association, he is on their Social Equity and New York Regional Committee.
Phillip launched THC_Harlem, at Joe’s Barbershop, to promote cannabis industry education and social equity among BIPOC cannabis entrepreneurs and communities. Prior, Phillip worked in education, government, and political campaigns, launched an ed-tech startup, and venture philanthropy. He is the inaugural Civic Innovation Fellow at Cornell Tech on Roosevelt Island.
He also advises the Black Entrepreneurs Club and venture capital fund focused on Black/Latin-x entrepreneurs. He is a lecturer in entrepreneurship at his alma mater Tufts University and an alumnus of AmeriCorps-City Year New York, The Millennial Trains Project Fellowship, and 4.0 Schools Fellowship.

Joe’s Barbershop (open since 1964) and a former speakeasy, is now a cannabis-friendly space to connect, create, and be authentic. Joe’s Barbershop has become a safe space for the local community, cannabis enthusiasts, legacy cannabis entrepreneurs, investors, out-of-state legal cannabis pioneers, and for people who want to work in the industry to come together in Harlem.
