Who is Dewan?

Dewan Clayborn is a dynamic and result-oriented leader with a proven track record of transforming organizations. As the President & CEO of the Central Maryland Chamber of Commerce, he oversees an organization serving over 2.8 million residents. A dedicated philanthropist, Dewan is also the President & CEO of the Central Maryland Chamber’s Educational Foundation, which has invested over $1 million in scholarships for local high school seniors.

Originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, Dewan’s passion for basketball and business led him to a degree in Business Administration from the University of Central Arkansas. He then began a successful managerial career with Sam’s Club and Target.

In 2015, Dewan found his true calling in chambers of commerce. While he was President/CEO in Texas, he propelled the organization to unprecedented heights. Dewan’s leadership resulted in over 800 new members, increased financial reserves by over 700%, and four-star accreditation ranked his Chamber in the top 3% of chambers nationwide.

Dewan has a certification in the Institute of Management (4-Years), Certification in Chamber of Commerce Executives through Texas A&M (3-Years), a certification in Social Justice, Nonprofit and Fundraising Leadership through Texas A&M.

Dewan’s impact extends beyond his professional achievements. He is a published author, empowering nonprofit leaders with his book “The Next Generation of Nonprofit Leadership.” As an active church member, Dewan serves as a lead usher, facilitates bible studies, and mentors youth.

Dewan is a true philanthropist who organizes annual toy drives, spearheads back-to-school initiatives and establishes a scholarship fund. Additionally, he serves on multiple non-profit boards and mentors minority children through his program, BRANCH.
