Who is Ben?

Benjamin P. Morgan is a distinguished senior-level executive with over three decades of experience in the construction industry. As Vice President at Barton Malow Builders, LLC, Benjamin has demonstrated exceptional leadership and operational expertise, guiding his teams through diverse projects in higher education, healthcare, commercial, and sports construction sectors. A graduate of the Milwaukee School of Engineering with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering and the University of Maryland College Park with a Master of Engineering in Construction Management, his technical acumen and strategic vision have been pivotal in completing numerous large-scale projects—also a proud Class of 2016 Graduate of Leadership Maryland Graduate.  Ben is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Architecture, Urbanism, and the Built Environment to enhance his project management and pedagogy expertise. This advanced academic endeavor aims to deepen his theoretical and practical understanding of the interdisciplinary aspects of architectural and urban studies.

Throughout his career at Barton Malow, Benjamin has held key positions, from Project Superintendent to Senior Project Executive, before assuming his current role as Vice President in 2014. He has managed a large budget, oversaw 58 team members, and maintained positive relationships with key clients. His commitment to safety, proactive workforce diversity practices, and strong organizational culture have earned him numerous accolades, including the Ben C. Maibach, Jr. Leadership Award and recognition from the Maryland Washington Minority Companies Association as the Most Valuable Prime Construction Executive for Minority Enterprises.

Beyond his professional achievements, Benjamin is deeply involved in community service and professional development. He has been an adjunct lecturer at Morgan State University for over 12 years, sharing his construction planning and scheduling expertise. He is an active board member for several organizations, including Morgan State University Construction Management Industry Advisory Board, Roberta’s House, Maryland Center for Construction Education & Innovation (MCEI), and the Architectural Engineer Industry (AEI). Ben finds great satisfaction in educating the young minds at Morgan State University. His teaching philosophy emphasizes a practical approach to learning, encouraging students to think beyond what is right in front of them and to find solutions that could significantly impact society. His dedication to fostering the next generation of construction professionals and promoting inclusive business practices underscores his commitment to his industry and community. Benjamin has been a faithful member of Fulton Baptist Church for over 46 years, where he serves as the Chairman of the Board of Deacons and serves on various other ministries.

On a personal note, Benjamin has been married to Rev. Stacey Morgan for 31 years, and together, they have three children: Kristopher, Korynne, and Benjamin Jr. His family remains a central pillar, providing unwavering support and inspiration throughout his career. Benjamin’s ability to balance a demanding professional life with a fulfilling personal life is a testament to his character and dedication.
