BEYA Baltimore Welcome Committee

(Baltimore, MD – January 8, 2024) – The Committee to Welcome the 38th Black Engineer of the Year Conference is thrilled to announce the return of this prestigious event to Baltimore. To kick off the excitement, a networking reception will be held on Tuesday, January 9, at the Reginald Lewis Museum from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. This marks the conference’s grand return to Baltimore after over a decade of regional rotation. The event will take place from February 15-17.

Previously recognized as one of Baltimore’s 20 largest conferences by the Baltimore Business Journal, the conference is anticipated to make a significant economic impact on the city. With an expected attendance of 12,000, predominantly from out of town, the direct spending on accommodations, dining, transportation, and other local services is forecasted to be substantial.

The economic benefits extend beyond direct spending:

Indirect Spending: The conference is set to boost local businesses, potentially leading to increased hiring and supply purchases.

Multiplier Effect: The economic activity from the conference will spur further local economic activity, benefiting employees and businesses alike.

Employment Opportunities: The conference will create numerous temporary jobs in event management, hospitality, and transportation sectors.

Long-Term Benefits: Hosting this conference enhances Baltimore’s reputation as a prime location for future large-scale events, fostering increased tourism and business prospects.

Community Engagement: The event will also include community projects and partnerships, leaving a lasting positive impact on Baltimore.

The Committee warmly invites all to join in welcoming this significant event back to our city and to partake in the networking reception, marking the beginning of what promises to be an unforgettable conference experience.
