August is #NationalBlackBusinessMonth, created in 2004 by historian John William Templeton and engineer Frederick E. Jordan, Sr. to bring attention to the needs of more than two million Black-owned businesses operating across America.

With this in mind, we invite all to join us on Monday, August 22, 2022, from 6 to 8 pm at Darker Than Blue Grille for “Recognizing Black Business Month: Doing Business with the City and State,” a business networking and awards event.

Harrington, Sean Stinnett of the Mayor’s Office of Minority and Women-Owned Business & Director of Baltimore Main Streets., and Joe Gaskins of the MD Business & Clergy Partnership based in Prince George’s County.
Other speakers include Jacqui Cummings of Notre Maison and the Annual Black Wall Street Business Walk; Herman Taylor, Pres. of the Minority Business Economic Council, Inc.; Derrick Burnett, President of AEI Architectural Environments, who will discuss Baltimore County procurement; and Chad Williams, Executive Director of the West North Avenue Development Authority.

Further, as always, this event will feature the Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards where we celebrate Black entrepreneurs and professionals as well as the people who support them regardless of race. To date, BmoreNews.com and its partners have honored over 1,900 individuals in 9 US cities since we began the awards in 2011.
Honorees include community advocate Margaret Powell; Pat Frazier of the Maryland-Washington Minority Companies Association; design artist Tracy Stevens; the Honorable Carl Snowden; Ed Hill of Bmore, Inc.; a longtime Bmorenews supporter who never wants any recognition – Mr. Rondy Griffin; REHAT Apprenticeship Training Program; Sanjay Thomas; and John Carrington.
