The Glover Report: Dr. A. C. D. Vaughn, Sr. Pastor of Sharon Baptist Church, Passes
Dr. A.C.D. Vaughn of Sharon Baptist

By Doni Glover, Publisher

(BALTIMORE – March 20, 2023) – The world has lost a giant, but heaven has gained an angel. He was not just the Senior Pastor at Sharon Baptist Church in Sandtown; he was Senior Pastor to Baltimore and the world.

There was not a politician who didn’t seek his favor. There was not a Christian who didn’t love his preaching.

To his flock, he was revered and adored. He often alluded to his fantastic cooking. No one could do it like A.C.D.

He was a friend to the less fortunate, a model for preachers, and a staple in Baltimore. Known across the nation, Dr. Vaughn is the last of the titans in the pulpit.

He will be sorely missed. No longer will we have this icon to consult. No longer will we have the quintessential example and epitome of pastoral guidance. He mentored many of us.

My father would often go to Sharon Baptist after an early sermon at Perkins Square Baptist Church, his home church. Why? Because no one could deliver a timely message, crack a joke, and still warm the heart as he could. Many preachers looked up to him.

He was a family man who loved his grandchildren. Known for his flair for fashion, he was a man’s man.

Preachers today could stand to learn from his example. Quite often, his message was common sense. He was such a wise man who helped me thru tough times. I felt his fatherly love, especially when my own father went home to glory.

He honored the code. His reputation was impeccable. He did not compromise the word of God, and he did not play with fools. On the contrary, he was the Senior Pastor for the entire city – particularly in a day and time when preachers molest the pulpit. Not A.C.D. No, sir. Dr. Vaughn held the line, promoted Christian values, and practiced what he preached.

May the good Lord welcome this legend into paradise.
