Speak Life
Montego Bay, Jamaica

(BALTIMORE – October 27, 2025) – Years ago, while in Jamaica, I found myself in conversation with a Rasta. I asked him what wisdom he’d have me carry back home. He paused, smiled, and said two simple words — words I will never forget: “Love life.” Then he repeated them, slower this time. “Love life.”

Today, the world feels upside down. What was left is now right. What was right is now passé. It’s as if common decency has become retro — a relic from another time. People’s mental health is stretched thin as we try to make sense of a world spinning in all directions.

Yet even in this chaos, we must endure, overcome, and rise above. That is our assignment. No matter what North America throws our way, our duty is to survive and thrive — just as our ancestors did. We are the descendants of those who refused to give up, refused to die, and refused to forget who they were.

We live because they insisted on life. They spoke power into existence. And so must we. Our words matter. They can build or destroy, heal or harm. So let us use them wisely — to uplift, to encourage, to empower our brothers, our sisters, and the world around us.

When the world turns cold, that’s when we must speak life — over our families, our dreams, and our future.

Because make no mistake: light and darkness cannot dwell in the same place at the same time. Other than an eclipse, light always wins. So stay in the light. Think positively. Do your best. Remember the greatness from which you come. And know that the power of the universe resides in your heart and mind.

Speak life. Live life. Love life. Because life — our life — is sacred.
