The giants who built Minority Business Enterprise didn’t act like this. Not one of them. (ANNAPOLIS – March 8, 2026) – I was there. At the very first MBE Night in Annapolis. Helped promote it, in fact. I know what it was built on. I know who was in the room. I know the spirit that animated it — a spirit that came directly from the giants who spent their lives fighting to open the doors of economic opportunity for Black and minority business owners in Maryland and across this country. Which is why what I am watching unfold right now…

(BALTIMORE – October 25, 2022) – “Attorney General Brian Frosh and his office mishandled and sat on exculpatory evidence for years and his recent attempts to save face are a complete disservice to the family of Hae Min Lee and to Adnan Syed who was wrongfully incarcerated for 23 years. We stand by our investigation and our ultimate finding that there is no credible evidence that Mr. Syed was involved in the death of Ms. Lee. Our investigation is extensive, and only a portion of our findings were outlined in the motion in order to present enough compelling evidence for…

Shorter, who was named the new County Executive for Prince William County, Va. following an approval vote by the Prince William County Board of Supervisors. Shorter’s last day with the City will be December 30, 2022. A search to permanently fill this critical position is now underway. (PRINCE GEORGE, MD – October 18, 2022) – Across the state, more and more activists are concerned and advocating for the re-enfranchisement of Marylanders with felonies, who are often Black people who are unfairly targeted by the racist incarceration system. Today, Life After Release, a member of the Expand the Ballot Expand the Vote Coalition, held a press conference to raise awareness on this pressing issue and share a glimpse of the future we dream of for people with felony convictions in Maryland. Up until 2007, Marylanders with felonies were permanently disenfranchised. Once they regained their voting rights, another major…

(WHITE HOUSE – October 10, 2022) – Happy Monday! To be blunt, the dopest announcement of last week was President Biden’s full and unconditional pardon of all federal offenses for simple possession of marijuana. Candidate Biden told you during the campaign that NO ONE should be in jail solely for marijuana possession and now President Biden is showing you while calling on governors to do the same. See details here and listen to Senior Advisor to the President and OPE Director Keisha Lance Bottoms discuss how this will give thousands of Americans new opportunities for housing, education and jobs on the Joe Madison Show here. What’s Happening This…
(BALTIMORE – October 8, 2022) – Law Professor Larry Gibson was on the Doni Glover Show yesterday discussing Question K and how term limits work against our interests here in Baltimore. Years ago, a Question P was put on the ballot to take the city from 3-member districts to single-member districts. In the Black community, it led to an immediate 9% reduction in Black representation on the Baltimore City Council. Prof. Gibson said in an exclusive interview, “Over the past decade, Baltimore has suffered from too much turnover in local government, with four mayors, five police commissioners, three public works directors,…
