(BALTIMORE – February 19, 2026) – Baltimore is a basketball town. From neighborhood courts to college hardwood, this city understands the rhythm of the game. So when the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association returns for the 2026 Food Lion CIAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament, February 24 through March 1 at CFG Bank Arena, it’s more than a sporting event. It’s strategy. It’s circulation of capital. It’s culture meeting commerce — and winning. A $100 Million Partnership Since the tournament officially relocated to Baltimore in 2021 — with games beginning in 2022, the CIAA Tournament has generated more than $100 million in…
(BALTIMORE – September 15, 20025) – Once upon a time, you had to walk into Blockbuster on a Friday night. If the movie you wanted was gone, tough luck. Then came Netflix, shipping little red envelopes to our mailboxes. A few years later, streaming went mainstream — and Blockbuster was history. Netflix wasn’t just about movies. It was about freedom and convenience. Watch what you want, when you want. No late fees, no gatekeepers. Amazon followed with Prime, Hulu jumped in, Disney, Apple, Paramount, Peacock — you name it. The old cable bundle collapsed. Now here we are in 2025,…
(BALTIMORE – September 13, 2025) – I remember when Comcast was all there was. The people in the office sometimes acted snotty. Don’t be late with a bill. It felt like you had to promise your first-born just to keep the service on. I also remember the “triple-play” when Verizon bundled TV, phone, and internet. Again — don’t be late. These titans forgot about customer service. They acted like they were the only game in town. And for a time, they were. But when streaming came along, it booted these stubborn dinosaurs out of the way. That’s called digital disruption —…
Applications for Funding Opportunities Open September 19 (BALTIMORE – September 10, 2025) — Today, Mayor Brandon M. Scott announced the first application round for the City-Wide Affordable Housing TIF Funds to support the redevelopment of vacant properties throughout Baltimore City. The application and program guidelines will be available on DHCD’s website. “My administration is taking on a challenge that’s been ignored for generations — vacant housing — delivering $3 billion to end this crisis for good within 15 years,”…

(BALTIMORE – September 4, 2025) — Award-winning journalist, entrepreneur, and author Doni Glover has released his highly anticipated new book, Black Blueprint — a powerful roadmap for empowerment, resilience, and progress in Black communities across America and the African diaspora. Known nationally as the publisher of BMORENews.com and BlackUSA.News, and as the founder of the Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards, Glover has spent over two decades amplifying Black voices, championing entrepreneurs, and telling the stories too often ignored by mainstream media. Black Blueprint captures that mission in print, blending history, strategy, and vision into a guide for the future. “This…
(BALTIMORE – August 31, 2025) – I have a confession to make. BMORENews.com did not produce a Black Business Month event this year. Every August, Black-owned businesses around the country are front and center. Small businesses are the backbone of the American economy. And between COVID and the onslaught of the current administration in Washington, D.C., many new Black entrepreneurs have emerged — with sisters leading the way. Black women are the fastest-growing group of entrepreneurs in the United States, driving an extraordinary wave of new business creation over the past decade. While they may not yet own the largest share…
(BALTIMORE – August 27, 2025) – When the State of Maryland, local designers, engineers, and neighbors join forces, the result is safer streets with a splash of style. Graham Projects, the West North Avenue Development Authority (WNADA), and Open Works Baltimore are teaming up to improve transit access and pedestrian safety at West North Avenue’s busy intersections with McCulloh Street and Druid Hill Avenue. These improvements are the result of a collaborative planning process that engaged neighborhood residents in providing feedback, reviewing budgets, and helping select public art designs to enhance the streetscape. “Over the past several months, our team…
(BALTIMORE – August 15, 2025) – If I can convince you that you came here from somewhere else, I can erase any possibility of you finding out your lineage was here all along. That’s exactly what happened to countless Native Black Americans. Through “paper genocide” — changing birth, census, and tribal records — entire families were reclassified. One of the most notorious examples was the Dawes Commission in the late 1800s. They created the Dawes Rolls to register citizens of the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek, and Seminole Nations. But if you had African ancestry, you were often forced into the “Freedmen”…
