(TULSA – February 4, 2025)—On the heels of the U.S. Department of Justice report documenting the extraordinary horrors of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, Tulsa Mayor Monroe Nichols has signaled his support for Project Greenwood, the most comprehensive plan yet to help repair the harm caused by the state-sanctioned destruction of the historic Greenwood District, also known as Black Wall Street. Championed by Justice for Greenwood and the two last living massacre survivors, the plan has been embraced by massacre descendants, public officials, faith leaders, and business owners as an opportunity to create a stronger, more unified Tulsa for all.
