Dr. Wayne A.I. Frederick

(WASHINGTON, DC – July 24, 2023) – On July 21, 2014, Dr. Wayne A.I. Frederick was appointed as president of Howard University after serving as interim president. During that time, Dr. Frederick has led our university to new, historic heights of academic excellence, research innovation, and community engagement.

Under Dr. Frederick’s leadership, Howard has:
– Celebrated a 171% increase in first-time in college applications
– Reported a landmark $122M in research grants and contracts
– Accelerated renovations of academic facilities with the adoption of a $785M capital plan

We are grateful to Dr. Frederick for his dedicated leadership to our alma mater, and his lasting impact on our students, faculty, staff, and community.
