(BALTIMORE – February 21, 2023) – BMORENews.com will present Black Wall St. BALTIMORE, our 2023 Black History Month edition, on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, from 6 to 8 pm at Terra Cafe Bmore, located at 101 E. 25th Street. RSVP to https://blackwallstreetbaltimore2023.eventbrite.com.

Honorees include Mona Lisa King.

Who is Mona Lisa?

“Look in the mirror and LOVE what you see”: These are words to live by for Mona Lisa King, the Founder and Creative Director of Anom Asil Company. Her inventiveness extended to the name of her company, which is her birth name spelled backward (Mona Lisa).

Anom Asil Co. is an athleisure brand. The true beauty of athleisure is that it is both practical and completely fashionable. The relaxed and cool style blends sportswear with ready-to-wear to create styles that are chic and comfortable. Athleisure reflects a change in lifestyle, it goes together with an increased health consciousness, busy schedules, and relaxed standards of dress.

Mona is a native of Prince George’s County, Maryland, and has always known that fashion was her destiny. Recognized for her funky, colorful, unique, and vibrant designs she says, “she has always had an eye for creating and styling, God blessed me with a gift, and I have built upon that.” When asked what inspires her creativity, she says “I have always loved to create unique pieces of my own, dress to set myself apart, and feel good in what I am wearing.”

Mood is a major component for Mona when creating new designs. She says her mood and workspace definitely play an important role when designing. “I need a Zen atmosphere for my visions to flow. Inspiration comes from all around me. Culture and current life cycles influence a lot of my designs.”

If Mona could go back and tell herself one thing before beginning Anom Asil she says it would be, “Don’t wait for everything to be perfect. Start today! Believe in yourself and the gift God blessed you with.“
