Booker is a Black educator. Booker teaches at the Jessup House of Corrections. The prisons are filled with Black men. Although Black people comprise 13-15% of the US population, Blacks make up nearly half of America’s inmates. While America represents only 5% of the world’s population, this country has 25% of the world’s inmates. TWENTY-FIVE PERCENT. In any event, Booker is there to teach. His students gain an education, one that can serve them when they return home.
