MARCI to be Recognized at Black Wall Street New Year EMPOWERMENT SUMMIT, Jan. 4th
MARCI

(BALTIMORE – December 18, 2024) – Be sure to attend the Black Wall Street New Year EMPOWERMENT SUMMIT on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 10 am to 2 pm at the Sankofa Children’s Museum of African Cultures at 4330 Pimlico Rd. This will be an inspiring event filled with workshops, speakers, networking opportunities, and, of course, the coveted Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards. This event is presented by BMORENews.com, the West North Avenue Development Authority (WNADA), and Fulton Bank.

RSVP to BlackWallStreetSummit2025.eventbrite.com.

Honorees receiving the Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards include Marci Flournoy.

Who is Marci?

Sultry songstress MARCI, a smooth jazz vocalist whose romantic style has been captivating audiences throughout the Mid-Atlantic, is a natural-born talent who was meant to be in the music business.

Born in Baltimore, MD, and a product of the public school system, MARCI began wowing friends and family within earshot very early. Encouraged by her mother, an avid ballroom dancer, singer, and piano player, MARCI began studying and playing the piano and xylophone in elementary school, performing recitals at various
churches, participating in school and church choirs, and was a member of the exclusive All City and All State Choruses for music majors.

Singled out for having the “perfect voice” for solo performances by her middle school music teacher, MARCI was soon engaged in rigorous training to perform in school plays and to help prepare her for an audition with Baltimore’s prestigious Peabody Preparatory School, where she received a much-coveted 4-year scholarship.
While at Peabody Prep, MARCI electrified the local music scene with the female group The Fyne Myst – one of several popular groups that included the Tempos, The Young Vandals, and others affiliated with the Don LaShawn Entertainment organization.

Traveling the country performing with different groups while working in the studio as a demo backup vocalist only added to MARCI’s well-rounded, in-depth musical education. However, it has been her break-away performances in competitions such as the Annual Maryland Billie Holiday Competition, Philadelphia’s
Rising Star Talent Search and the Baltimore County Idol Contest have elevated her status from local favorite to regional headliner in the finalists’ category.

MARCI was the final dazzling vocalist that ended an era of elegance at the infamous Belvedere’s 13th Floor, delivering unique renditions of favorite jazz and piano bar standards. Last but certainly not least, recently, MARCI has been introduced as an added featured performer at the Arena Players, once again wowing audiences with
renditions of Smooth Jazz, R&B, and standard favorites.

BMORENews.com and its partners have recognized over 2,800 Black entrepreneurs and professionals, as well as the people who support them regardless of race, in 9 major US cities since its inception in 2011.
