(BALTIMORE – February 2, 2025) – BMORENews.com is delighted to announce that acclaimed author David Miller will be moderating the Authors’ Panel at 11 a.m. Miller, a prolific writer of children’s books, brings a wealth of expertise in writing, publishing, and book sales, offering invaluable insights to aspiring authors. Panelists include Nikiea Redmond, Dr. Leroy McKenzie, and Alex Green.

RSVP to BlackWallStreetEXPO2025.eventbrite.com.

A Baltimore native, David C. Miller combines his academic background with real-world experience to lead healing circles for men and boys. His work focuses on decision-making, impulse control, mental health awareness, and anger management. Having grown up in West Baltimore, Miller confronted personal experiences with trauma and street violence, ultimately channeling those challenges into founding an innovative children’s publishing company.

Miller’s publishing mission is to address the lack of diversity in children’s literature by crafting relatable stories that promote racial pride, vibrant storytelling, and engaging illustrations. His notable titles include Khalil’s Way, Gabe & His Green Thumb, Brooklyn’s Finest: The Greene Family Farm, Winnie the Wizard of Wall Street, and Ida B., the Beekeeper.

Holding a Ph.D. from the School of Social Work at Morgan State University, Miller resides in Washington, D.C., with his family. His commitment to uplifting young African Americans extends beyond books. In 1999, he was awarded a fellowship to develop programs addressing violence among urban African American males. This led to Dare To Be King, a comprehensive curriculum that equips young men with tools to navigate anger, impulse control, and critical decision-making.

Currently, Miller is in Ghana, Africa, working on an educational initiative. Over the next five weeks, he will collaborate with local Ghanaians, expatriates, and African Americans to develop a curriculum introducing U.S. students to life in Ghana.

David Miller’s influence continues to grow. He recently released a new children’s book, Chef Toussaint, about a nine-year-old culinary prodigy who transforms his grandmother’s recipes into award-winning dishes. He will also participate in a Family Literacy Panel Discussion on Monday, February 22, hosted by Baltimore City Public Schools’ Family Engagement team. This free event will feature African American authors sharing strategies to encourage a love for reading.

Beyond his writing and educational initiatives, Miller is deeply involved in community-based projects. He serves on the OSI-Baltimore Fellows Advisory Board and selection committee and is integral to the B’More Invested initiative, which explores innovative approaches to community-based grantmaking.

Miller’s legacy as an author, mentor, and community leader continues to inspire, as he remains dedicated to fostering literacy, resilience, and empowerment among young African Americans.
