(BALTIMORE – October 14, 2022) – Baltimore is full of amazingly talented people. There is no wonder why Baltimore has so many entrepreneurs. In the Black community, Baltimore has one of the largest numbers of business owners in the nation.

Jared Beilby writes, “With Black residents comprising 31% of the population, Maryland has the highest percentage of Black residents of any state on the East Coast, and the 4th-highest in the nation. As such, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise that Maryland has many Black business owners. The Free State ranks 1st nationally for the most Black-owned businesses per 1 million people (1,213), and also ranks 1st in percent of the workforce employed by Black-owned businesses (3.49%). Black-owned Maryland businesses additionally average a very respectable annual payroll of $465K, which is the 4th-highest in the nation. The state government offers several tools for minority business owners, including funding, small business certifications, and assistance programs.”

Despite the negative image of Charm City painted by media like HBO’s The Wire as a haven for drug dealing and murder, there are countless others who instead spread love and positivity. Where every person must choose their own course in life, so many are doing the right thing. They just don’t make the 6 o’clock news often enough.

Founder and Creative Director Jerry Lee a.k.a. Je’Lee a.k.a. Mr. Bomb City is one of them. Born and raised in Baltimore, he utilizes fashion and entertainment to heal and restore his hometown, and other cities that have been plagued with crime, poverty, and misfortune.

Born in the early 70s, he was heavily influenced by Baltimore’s unique style, culture, music, and dance scene. Early on, he was often recognized as being gifted and talented but struggled to overcome the circumstances of being a young black man in Baltimore.

Like so many others, he faced challenges in the streets.

Today Je’Lee uses his past experiences to inspire others and is passionate about his responsibility to the community. Bomb City is his way of staying connected with the music industry as well as providing the community with high-quality fashion that reflects hip hop culture.

His shop is located at 6314 Windsor Mill Rd., #202, Baltimore, MD 21244.
