My enthusiasm to serve the citizens of Maryland completely aligns with “Leave no one behind” and my signature hashtag #BaltimoreNeedsMe!

(BALTIMORE – March 5, 2023) – BMORENews.com will present the 2nd Annual Black Wall Street HOODFELLAS featuring the Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, from 6 to 8 pm at Hoodfellas Bistro located in the Munsey Building at 7 N. Calvert St. in downtown Baltimore.

The awards were designed to celebrate Black entrepreneurs and professionals as well as the people who support them regardless of race. Since its inception in 2011, BMORENews and its partners have honored more than 2,000 individuals in New York, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Richmond, Atlanta, New Orleans, Birmingham, Las Vegas, and Tulsa.

LIMITED SEATING! RSVP as soon as possible! Go to https://blackwallstreethoodfellas2023.eventbrite.com.

Honorees include Jamie Christon Johnson.

Who is Jamie?

In her own words …

Likewise, my current leader, Maryland’s Democratic Governor Wes Moore is primed and ready to lead believing no matter where you start in life, you deserve an equal opportunity to succeed. My Governor’s slogan, “Leave no one behind” – embodies leadership, compassion, creativity, lived experience, and proper preparation.  I possess those qualities and more and that is why I am now serving as the Outreach Director for the Moore-Miller Administration; and for this opportunity I am extremely grateful!

A little about my journey…

Jamie Christon Johnson

Born and raised in Baltimore City, I have been blessed with various achievements. For 8 years, I was the President of my high school and college speech/communication teams, which has given me much of my diversification and experience in public speaking. I’ve developed my professional and creative intellect through various non-profits, government, and entertainment organizations from all over the world. I’ve coordinated large-scale events, conferences, youth workshops, concerts, casting calls, aids awareness and breast cancer fund raisers, as well as juvenile crime prevention affairs from conception through completion.

During my years in undergrad, I was the host as well as producer of the #1 Radio Show on WMSU Cable Radio Channel 56 (Morgan State University) entitled F.A.S.H.I.O.N. (Fashion as well as Social and Health Issues in Our Nation) and currently host one of Radio One’s top mentor strategy shows on 106.1 Praise FM.

After graduating from undergrad, I spent a tremendous amount of time consulting, developing, and teaching Creative Writing to inner-city youth. I was blessed to have received the “Favorite Teacher of the Year Award” from Baltimore’s previous Mayor Martin O’Malley.

As a result of my work experience within various human service organizations and non-profits, organizational leadership positions, program coordinator opportunities, political campaigning, radio & television programming (WEAA 88.9 FM, 106.1 Praise FM, B.E.T., CBS & FOX45) as well as strong internships, I have been able to build a strong network of like-minds.  Most importantly, my number one priority is to live for God and serve the vulnerable; I consider myself a humanitarian with extensive knowledge and understanding in “the world of politics”.

I have had the opportunity to work with popular executives such as Kamora Lee Simmons, Russell Simmons, Stevin Mass, Ralph McDaniel’s, Chris Robinson, Philip Gates, Steven Hill, Lauren Wirtzer, Joseph Rode, as well as Tisha Edwards in addition to many more.  I have also had the exclusive opportunity to serve previous Mayors of Baltimore City including current Mayor Brandon Scott as his Youth & Community Engagement Manager prior to my new role with Governor Wes Moore.

I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Global Journalism with a minor in Public Relations and Fashion Merchandising from Morgan State University, and my Master’s Degree in International Development and Global Affairs from a collaborative Human Service Program between University of Baltimore and Coppin State University.

In brief, working within the human services sector (youth, elderly and disabled), non-profit organizations, television/radio networks, marketing, promotions, budgeting, advertising, film, event planning, fashion, traveling, urban marketing and broadcast production has prepared me for real public service.
